PETERBOROUGH — Learn about the local experience of World War I at a Lunch and Learn program on Thursday, September 14 at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture. We will discuss the Troop A Cavalry, the local National Guard unit that becomes a machine gun unit in France: the tragic story of Peterborough aviator William Cheney; and the local brother and sister who lost their lives when the Lusitania was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland as well as the experiences of other men and women from the region.
The Monadnock Center’s Lunch and Learn programs begin at 12 p.m. with a delicious selection of sandwich wraps with salad and chips. After the main meal, guests will enjoy a lively, illustrated talk over coffee, tea and cookies.
The Monadnock Center for History and Culture is a community museum located at 19 Grove Street in downtown Peterborough.
