HOPKINGTON — 52 year-old Darrin Bennett from Hillsboro, New Hampshire sustained minor injuries in a snowmobile accident today, Sunday January 7, 2018.

He was operating his snowmobile on the Corridor 6 snowmobile trail in Washington when his machine began to accelerate uncontrollably as he entered a corner. Bennett’s machine collided with a tree and came to an abrupt stop, throwing Bennett from the snowmobile at approximately 2:00 PM. Bennett was riding with two friends at the time of the incident who transported him approximately 3.2 miles out of the woods after the crash.

Bennett notified New Hampshire Fish and Game as soon as he had cell phone service and a Conservation Officer responded to the scene. Bennett was transported from the scene to Concord Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

At this time New Hampshire Fish and Game is investigating the accident. Bennett was wearing proper riding gear at the time of the accident.

New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind all riders to wear proper safety gear while operating OHRVs and never ride alone.
