HANCOCK — On Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at approximately 12:26 p.m., the Hancock Police Department Responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 202 in the area of Kimball Road in Hancock. Hancock Police along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found two vehicles involved on Route 202 just east of Kimball Rd both with heavy front end damage. One of the vehicles involved was identified as a 2010 Nissan Versa sedan operated by Vanessa JARVIS, age 35, of Hillsboro, New Hampshire. JARVIS was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated. She sustained life threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worchester, MA. The other vehicle involved was identified as a 2007 Subaru Legacy station wagon and was operated by Griffen FLETCHER, age 29, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire. He had minor injuries and was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital as a precaution.

Based upon the initial on-scene investigation, it appears that the Nissan Versa was traveling westbound on Route 202. At the same time the Subaru Legacy was traveling eastbound on Route 202. In the area just east of Kimball Road, the Nissan Versa crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck the Subaru Legacy in a head on fashion crash.

The Hancock Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Hancock Fire and Rescue Department, the Greenfield, Bennington, and Antrim Police Departments as well as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene to assist. The NH DOT and Hancock Highway provided traffic control and barricades. Due to the collision, Route 202 in this area was closed for approximately 4 hours.
