GREENFIELD — The case of the stray bullet has been closed.

Though we’ll probably never know how a bullet shot at Greenfield Selectman Stephen Atherton’s shooting range on Forest Road found its way through a window of town police Sgt. Glenn Roberge’s home, located far from the shooting range and on the other side of Forest Road, state police have determined there was “no criminal aspect” to the incident, Trooper Matthew Wolak said this week. He added since the two parties have come to an agreement, Atherton will pay for the repairs to the window, state police have closed the case.

The bizarre bullet incident has thrown the town’s search for a new police chief “limbo,” however, Atherton said Tuesday night because Roberge was applying for the position of police. For my full story click here.
