RINDGE — Bring the kids of all ages to Lutherfest, where all the activities are free and fun and based on the Medieval and Renaissance eras. Prizes awarded for best costume of the period — monks, pirates, knights, royalty, jousters, jesters, popes, and nuns, to name a few. Even your favorite canine can get in on the action. Winners in each catagory — adult, child, and dog–will be announced at 1:30 p.m.
Other activities of the day include free hot dogs and root beer, silly desserts, and the chance to participate in the arts of the day–print-making, storytelling, family shield design, jewelry-making, and make-your-own “Fair Maiden” headdress.
Each child attending is invited to “shop” for a free book at the Ye Olde Booke Stall.
All is in celebration of the 500th anniversary of a bold act in 1517 by a German monk named Martin Luther. His stand against the church authorities of the day ultimately led to the Protestant Reformation. As a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Advent Lutheran Church of Rindge, N.H., claims Martin Luther as our founder, and he is recognized by all Protestants today as one who took an important and enduring stand against paying our way into God’s graces.
Biergarten opens at 2pm, followed by a traditional German dinner starting at 4 p.m. Make a day of it!
