JAFFREY — The sister of a man who lost his home in a house fire Wednesday has reached out to the community for help in a GoFundMe account.
As of Thursday afternoon the fundraiser has already raised more than $7,000.
“Earlier today my brother Justin McLaughlin and his girlfriend Katie Mullen received probably one of the worst phone calls a new home owner could probably receive,” Sherry McLaughlin said in her post on the fundraiser page.
Sherry McLaughlin said the house was purchased within the last year and within that time her brother has put a great deal of work, time, and additional money to fix up the house to make it his dream home.
Now his dream home has “been swept away with the blink on an eye,” she said in her post.
Along with losing their dream home the couple also lost a newly adopted puppy and their two pet cats in the fire. … “my brother and his girlfriend Katie recently had recently adopted a puppy named Bailey and two cats Joey and Maci which lives were all lost in this horrible tragedy.”
The North Road home was fully engulfed in flames with firefighters arrived Wednesday afternoon. The Jaffrey Fire Department said it is investigating the cause of the fire.
